Ready to kickstart your career in infrastructure?
The Infrastructure Ready Program is a 3-week, fully funded pre-trade course run at Diggerman Training in Coolum Beach on the Sunshine Coast. It is funded by Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ), so there is no cost to you if you qualify. The next intake starts Monday 26 October 2026, and there are only 12 places.
What the Infrastructure Ready Program is
It is built for people who want to make a start in civil construction but do not have the tickets or the experience yet. Over three weeks you train hands-on and work through the safety and communication skills a site expects. You finish with a full week of simulated site work behind you.
The program runs as a fixed intake, Monday to Friday, not a rolling enrolment. Weeks 1 and 2 run 8:00am to 3:00pm, and week 3 runs 8:00am to 3:30pm. You apply, and if you meet the criteria the team is in touch about the next steps.
If you already have site experience and only need a specific ticket, our civil construction courses are the better fit.
What you complete
The three weeks are built around real, nationally recognised training, not classroom theory on its own. You complete five units of competency and a 21-hour Life Skills Program. The final week is Simulated Workplace Training that mirrors a working civil site.
The five units are:
- RIIBEF201E – Plan and Organise Work
- RIICOM201E – Communicate in the Workplace
- RIICCM201E – Carry out Measurements and Calculations
- RIIWHS201E – Work Safely and Follow WHS Procedures
- RIISAM203E – Use Hand and Power Tools
The Life Skills side covers the things that keep people in work once they get there: goal setting, communication and conflict resolution, financial literacy, resume writing, interview preparation, personal presentation, first aid awareness, workplace fitness, and Mates in Construction.
How the three weeks run
Week 1 is personal development and core foundations. You start with an industry induction, then work through Plan and Organise Work and Communicate in the Workplace, with life skills sessions across the week.
Week 2 moves to safety and practical skills. You cover Measurements and Calculations, Work Health and Safety procedures, and Use Hand and Power Tools, with tool safety and hands-on activities.
Week 3 is Simulated Workplace Training. You put the units together in a setup built to feel like a real civil site, so you finish with site experience behind you, not just certificates.
Who it is for
The program is open to people who meet all of these:
- A Queensland resident with work rights in Australia
- The holder of a current driver licence with reliable transport to Coolum Beach
- Not currently working full-time in construction
- Not an apprentice or trainee, and you have not completed a CSQ-funded pre-trade program before
- Available to attend every session, Monday to Friday, across the full three weeks
That makes it a fit for someone starting out or moving into the industry, rather than an experienced operator topping up a single licence.
