COURSE OVERVIEW
This unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to safely perform intermediate rigging work.
Riggers use mechanical load shifting equipment and associated gear to move, place or secure loads, including plant, equipment or members of a building or structure. Riggers ensure the stability of those members and set up and dismantle cranes and hoists.
This unit includes rigging work involving:
- hoists with jibs and self-climbing hoists
- cranes, conveyors, dredges and excavators
- tilt slabs
- demolition of structures or plant
- multiple lifts.
Rigging work is undertaken in construction and other industries where load shifting equipment is used to move, place or secure loads.
Completion of the general construction induction training program, specified in the Safe Work Australia model Code of Practice: Construction Work, is required by anyone carrying out construction work. Achievement of CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry meets this requirement.
Competence in this unit does not in itself result in a licence. A licence is obtained after competence is assessed under applicable Commonwealth, state or territory work health and safety (WHS) regulations.
Our point of difference here at Diggerman Training is that we are also a large earthmoving company, which operates all over Queensland.
This means that we are part of the industry, in touch with its needs and trends.
Our extremely experienced trainers maintain their industry currency by also being part of the operational earthmoving teams.
They will use this knowledge to train you to the highest standard.
Diggerman Training offers different backhoe/loader courses tailored to suit different students needs based on experience and other factors such as time, having access to your own machine and/or to allow students the maximum amount of practical time on the machine.
This unit includes rigging work involving:
- hoists with jibs and self-climbing hoists
- cranes, conveyors, dredges and excavators
- tilt slabs
- demolition of structures or plant
- multiple lifts.
Your training will be divided up into two parts firstly theory and once that is completed a practical section. After being taught both how to operate a backhoe correctly and all the required theoretical knowledge you will be tested on both areas.
Upon successful completion of the unit a Statement of Attainment will be issued. Participants will receive a wallet card consisting of one (1) nationally recognised unit of competency.
Long Sleeve Hi-Visibility Shirt (or Long Sleeve Shirt with a Hi-Visibility Vest), Long Pants, Steel Cap Safety Boots, Hard Hat (Optional), Safety Glasses (Optional).
Training is conducted at either our main office (13 Junction Drive Coolum, Queensland 4573) or at our off-site large practical training area near Bli Bli.
