You will learn to plan and prepare for backhoe operations, carry out pre-operational checks, fit and remove attachments, operate the backhoe safely to dig, load and place materials, and shut down, clean and maintain the machine. Training covers both classroom theory and hands-on practical work in the field.
The course typically runs between two and four days, depending on your experience. Operators with prior experience may finish faster, while those new to the industry get extra hands-on time.
On successful completion, you receive a nationally recognised statement of attainment for the civil construction backhoe/loader operations unit, recognised by employers across Australia.

Practical training is held at our purpose-built facility at Coolum Beach on the Sunshine Coast, with experienced trainers guiding you on our own machinery. You are welcome to train on your own machine at a local job site by arrangement.
You will need your own PPE: a hi-vis long sleeve shirt (or a long sleeve shirt with a hi-vis vest), steel cap boots, long pants and a hard hat. Training and assessment are conducted in plain English.
